Keith Ryan - Head Coach Varsity

Coach Ryan swam club for over 10 years mostly with Novaquatics.
He attended UC Irvine but recently stopped competing to focus on academic goals.
His time of 4:06:45 in the 400 IM ranks 9th all time.
He is currently working towards a BA in Psychology and plans on attending
graduate school for masters in School Psychology in hopes of becoming a high
school psychologist.
Keith began coaching last year at Northwood High School in Irvine. "I want
to give back to the sport that has taught me so many valuable life lessons and I
am extremely optimistic about this season and feel the program, although in the
rebuilding stages, is going to reemerge as a powerhouse in sunset league over
the next few years".
He now participates in triathlons. Last season (1st season) results:
- Pacific Grove Sprint Triathlon (500 yard swim, 12.4 miles bike, 2 miles run):
1st overall :53:49
- USA Triathlon Olympic Distance Age Group National Championships in Shreveport
Lousianna (.9 mile swim, 24.8 mile bike, 6.2 mile run) 14th in the 20-24 age
group, 2:08:49, a few minutes away from qualifying for the 2005 age group world
championships. Hoping to qualify this august. participating in 1st 1/2 ironman
distance (1.2 mile swim, 56 miles bike, 13.1 mile run) march 19th in Oceanside,
Ca.
Diggy Riley - Head Coach FS, Open & JV
Coach Riley played water polo and swam two years at Edison before transferring
to Newport Harbor High School in 1980, where he led his team to back to back CIF
Water Polo Championships. He was an All-American poloist all 4 years of High
School including earning First -Team honors in his junior and senior years.
He also played college water polo at UC Irvine his first two years, and was
All-American his sophomore year. That year, his team went 30-0 and won the NCAA
National Championships. He transferred to USC his junior and senior year where
he earned All-American honors as well. In addition, Diggy played on the Junior
National & National Teams for 10 years.
Diggy is the current Head Coach of the Boy's Varsity Water Polo Team. In 2002, the team advanced to the Semi-Finals of Division 2 and a #2 ranking in CIF. In 2003, the team ended the season ranked #8 in CIF. The 2004 season saw several school records broken and a ranking as high as #6 in CIF. This is Diggy's 4th year as swim coach of the lower levels.
His father Lou Riley, was the head coach for swimming and water polo in the 70's and 80's here at Edison as well. Diggy also coached his son in youth hockey for 6 years, winning 3 National Championships. He brings a great work ethic, positive attitude and plenty of experience to the program.
Diggy has been managing investment portfolios for 20 years and has been married to his wife Sally for 18 years. They live in Huntington Beach along with their son Tanner 18 (GWCC & UCSD), and their daughter Lindsay, 16 (Edison).
